All continuing education self-study courses (As of 2026) require that you take your course final without referring to any books, materials or notes of any kind in the presence of a disinterested third person, called a proctor, who must monitor the student while they take their exam and send it for grading to the course provider. This proctor must also complete a form attesting to the fact the student followed all the test taking rules. CLICK HERE (EXAM RULES AND ATTESTATION FORM)

After you enter your exam answers for scoring online, Dohrn will then score your exam and, if you pass, report your credits to SBS, Inc (State Based Systems, Inc., the State of Illinois’ third-party educational transcript and course credit reporting entity) the next business day. Dohrn will notify you with your results and provide a completion letter via email upon successfully completing the course. Each Self-Study Non-supervised exam requires a minimum passing score of 70%. If you fail Test A for Annuity Suitability, call the office for Makeup Test B. If you fail Test B, you must purchase a course from another provider.

If you are unable to order online, you do have the option of filling out a paper registration and emailing the form to info@dohrnit.com or faxing it to 847.455.1153. The paper registration will be processed the same or next business day.
